FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is this a National Registry EMT Course?
    Yes. All EMS students in Virginia must pass the National Registry exam. Instructions on signing up for the National Registry exam and finding a Pearson VUE test center will be given out towards the end of your EMT course program.   • What are the requirements for becoming an EMT?
    Requirements for becoming an EMT in Virginia are: a) physically and mentally able to perform all practical skills required, b) hold current certification in CPR at the beginning of your EMT course, c) successfully complete EMT program, d) clean background check, and e) pass the National Registry exam.
  • How long does it take to complete the EMT course?
    The EMT course takes approximately 144 hours to complete. The typical schedule includes two weekday evenings and one weekend day.
  • Do you accept GI Bill?
    We do not accept GI Bill at this time.
  • Do you help with employment upon completing the course?
    We do not provide job placement, but many of our contracted ambulance companies hire our students right out of school.
  • Do I have to wear my uniform every day to class?
    Yes, your uniform is to be worn every day to class -- including to your 24 hours of clinical work.
  • Will you accept any type of CPR card?
    The only card that we will accept is the BLS for Healthcare Providers card, issued from an American Heart Association training site.
  • How does your refund policy work?
    There are NO REFUNDS for the cost of course supplies (including: textbooks, uniforms, required equipment...), nor the costs for background checks or drug screenings. REGISTRANT CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: Cancellations received through attendance at the first class session or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever comes later, will be eligible to receive a refund, minus a $250.00 administrative fee. Please, reference your enrollment agreement for the specific date at which you must withdraw, to be eligible for a refund. Cancellations received after the above stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. Cancellations received after the above stated deadline may apply funds toward a future CERT EMT course and will be subject to a $250.00 administrative fee. Refunds may be credited back to the original credit card used for payment, or a check may be issued. Refunds will be made subtracting any book and supply charges for opened or used books or supplies. Any and all administrative fees are non-refundable. Students that wish to withdraw from the program must notify the Program Instructor via email.
